About ACC Camps and Courses
An overview of ACC camps and courses (Adventures) — the types of programs, what's included, who they're for, and how to find one that fits.
The ACC runs a wide range of camps, courses, and expeditions across Canada and internationally. Programs are open to ACC members and, where indicated, non-members.
Types of programs
- General Mountaineering Camp (GMC) — week-long guided mountaineering camps in remote helicopter-accessed locations. See About the General Mountaineering Camp.
- Skills courses — including AST 1 (Avalanche Skills Training), early-season ice climbing, and other technical disciplines
- Backcountry expeditions — to locations such as Fairy Meadow Hut and Hallam Glacier
- Section trips and courses — organized by local ACC sections (see Section Memberships)
What's included
Most ACC programs include ACMG-certified guides, group equipment for technical disciplines, accommodation, and meals — exact inclusions vary by program. Each program page lists what's covered.
Who programs are for
Programs are designed for a range of experience levels — from novice to expert. Each program lists prerequisites and skill expectations on its dedicated page. If you're unsure whether a program suits your experience, contact the Adventures team before registering.
Member benefits
ACC members receive member rates on most programs. Some programs are member-only — check program details when browsing.
Supporting volunteer trip leaders
A portion of each registration fee supports the ACC's Leadership Fund, which helps cover costs for volunteer trip leaders.
