About ACC Grants and Scholarships

The ACC distributes funding through several named grants and scholarships supporting mountain projects, environmental work, leadership development, and young women in the alpine.

Each year the ACC distributes funding through a set of named grants and scholarships. Together they support mountain projects, environmental protection, leadership development, and young people in the alpine community.

The current grants

  • ACC Environment Grant — supports projects that protect, restore, or conserve mountain, alpine, Arctic, and Canadian climbing environments.
  • Jen Higgins Grant for Young Women — annual cash grants to help young women pursue alpine-related outdoor adventures.
  • John Lauchlan Memorial Award — a cash and mentorship award supporting Canadian climbers on ambitious mountain projects.
  • Jim Colpitts Memorial Scholarship — helps offset the financial costs young people face when learning, developing, and certifying mountaineering skills.
  • Karl Nagy Memorial Scholarship — supports the development of next-generation ACC volunteer leaders.
  • GMC Access Grant — helps connect new climbers (ACC members aged 18–40) to the General Mountaineering Camp.

Each grant has its own information package and application process. Visit the Grants page for the full list, current information packages, and application links.
