An overview of ACC group booking options — backcountry huts, Shadow Lake Lodge, the Canmore Alpine Hostel, and Ski Weeks — and how to get started.

What types of group experiences can I book?

The ACC offers several options for groups:

  • Backcountry huts — adventurous, self-guided trips with shared spaces
  • Shadow Lake Lodge — all-inclusive lodge experience with cozy heated cabins
  • Canmore Alpine Hostel — rustic frontcountry stay, accessible to town and budget-friendly
  • Ski Weeks — 7-night helicopter-accessed backcountry ski trips with exclusive hut use
  • Weddings, retreats, and private events at Shadow Lake Lodge or the Canmore Alpine Hostel

How do I choose the right option for my group?

It depends on the experience you're after:

  • Backcountry huts — for adventurous, self-guided groups comfortable with shared spaces
  • Shadow Lake Lodge — for self-guided groups who prefer cozy, private heated cabins
  • Canmore Alpine Hostel — for groups wanting a rustic, accessible base near town on a budget

Can I book an ACC hut exclusively for my group?

Generally, no — ACC huts are shared spaces. Members can book up to 180 days in advance to secure available spaces.

Exceptions include some winter huts available through the Ski Week lotteries, and eligible outdoor education groups. Contact groups@alpineclubofcanada.ca to learn more.

Do all group members need to be ACC members?

Everyone is welcome to join a group booking. ACC members benefit from:

  • Discounted rates
  • Earlier booking access

Note: Shadow Lake Lodge does not currently have separate member and non-member rates.

Can I host a wedding or private event?

Yes. Both Shadow Lake Lodge and the Canmore Alpine Hostel host weddings, retreats, and private group events. Visit the Shadow Lake Lodge or Canmore Alpine Hostel pages on our website to learn more.

How do I get started with a group booking?

Email Group Services at groups@alpineclubofcanada.ca with:

  • Group size
  • Preferred dates
  • Preferred facility
  • Type of experience (school group, wedding, wellness retreat, etc.)

The Group Services team will help you find the best option and guide you through booking.
