About ACC Membership

An overview of ACC membership — the two main types (Individual and Family), what's included, how to join, and how renewal works.

An Alpine Club of Canada membership gives you access to the largest backcountry hut network in North America, more than 26 regional sections, member rates on camps and courses, partner discounts, and the chance to apply for grants. Memberships are annual.

Membership types

  • Individual — for single adults aged 18 or older.
  • Family — for two adults plus all children 17 and under living at the same address. See Family Memberships for details.

What's included

Both membership types include access to all member benefits:

  • Member rates on backcountry huts and the Canmore Alpine Hostel
  • Earlier hut booking access (180 days vs 90 for non-members, with some exceptions)
  • Member rates on ACC camps, courses, and Adventures
  • Eligibility to apply for ACC grants and scholarships
  • Access to ACC publications and the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival
  • Retail and gear discounts with partner brands

Optional add-ons

  • Section affiliation — join one or more local sections for trips, courses, and social events. See Section Memberships.
  • Canadian Alpine Journal — bundle the journal with your membership at a discount.

How to join

Sign up at app.alpineclubofcanada.ca/registration. You'll need to sign the ACC Waiver (Release of Liability) before you can register for any activities — see The ACC Waiver Requirement.

Renewal and refunds

  • Memberships are valid for one year from the date of purchase
  • Memberships are non-refundable
  • You can renew through the member portal once your current membership expires (or shortly before)
  • If your membership has lapsed and you sign up again, use the same email address as your previous account so your new membership links to your existing portal account and history
