Hut Etiquette and the User-Maintained Policy

ACC huts are user-maintained shared spaces. Every guest is responsible for cleaning, packing out garbage, sanitizing between groups, and following hut rules.

All ACC huts are user-maintained. There are no transition days between bookings — every guest helps keep the hut clean, safe, and ready for the next group.

Sharing the hut

  • Most huts are shared sleeping areas, kitchens, and common rooms with other guests
  • Coordinate with other groups in the hut on cleaning and departure tasks
  • Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM

What's not allowed

  • No pets in or around the hut
  • No camping or tents outside the hut
  • No candles or open flames inside the hut
  • No outdoor fires
  • No smoking in or around the hut

Footwear

Indoor shoes or hut booties are expected inside. Dirty or muddy footwear stays outside or in designated areas at the door.

Garbage and food

  • Pack out all garbage and unused food — leaving food behind attracts wildlife and pests
  • Store food in designated food storage areas or cupboards, never in sleeping areas or outside

Cleaning during your stay

Cleaning supplies (dish soap, sponges, brooms, mops) are provided. Clean and disinfect surfaces during your stay and again before departure. Because there are no transition days, sanitizing before and after use is essential.

Fireplace ashes

Dispose of ashes in the designated containers and only after they have fully cooled.

Before you leave

  • Clean and disinfect surfaces
  • Pack out all garbage and food
  • Close all windows and doors
  • Lock the hut
  • Leave nothing behind
  • Follow the departure checklist posted on-site
  • Coordinate with the other groups in the hut to make sure all departure tasks are done

If something is broken or missing

Notify the reservations team after you return home so it can be addressed before the next group arrives.
